So What Are We to Believe About the 'Religion of Peace?'
This Story from the Buffalo News [click to read] was so unbelievable that I had to check it out for myself. Muzzammil Hassan started Bridges TV, concerned that Americans were seeing only violent images of Muslims. The idea was to counter that perception but now it seems that Mr. Hassan dealt with a domestic dispute just like the folks do back home. He beheaded his wife!
Granted, all of us fall short of being the best we can as representatives of our faith, but think of the matter this way; it's what life is really like in the Muslim world for millions of people. What Mr. Hassan did has happened countless times in a society that accepts it. We are shocked because of our Jewish and Christian worldview foundations that resonate with our fundamental sense that this is wrong. I would guess that this fundamental sense would be present in the family of Mrs. Hassan, even in a culture that supports her killing.
It seems to me that the best way to change people's perception would be to simply show respect for women and religious minorities such as the Christians and Jews in these countries. Palestinian TV could do more to inform rather than incite as well. Recognizing Israel wouldn't hurt either. Then real peace would be more than a distant dream.

It's not only an assault on personal liberties but on Christian minorities as well.
