
In 1742 Jonathan and Nathaniel Chapman built this mill. Located between the great valley of Virginia and the Port of Alexandria...
The last time I took my son to Dulles I stopped at Chapman's Mill [click to read] and took some Pictures [click to view]. It took a bit of hiking through Bull Run Mountain Conservancy to get near the mill, which is surrounded by a chain link fence. On Sundays the fence is open so I was able to drive right up to the other side of the mill where you get a better sense of how high it is.
This Summer one of the high points was reconstructing the historic town of Ellicott's Mills [click to view]. Chapman's Mill and McCormick's Mill [click to view] became models for our
